I picked up some Kobe steaks at the grocery store and decided to cook a fancy 3 course dinner. It started out with a garden salad with figs.
Then, we had pan seared Kobe steaks and corn on the cob.
For dessert, we had the caramelized figs. They were so good that I licked my plate when no one was looking.
Here's the recipe for the figs.
Ingredients
1/2 cup mascarpone cheese
1/3 cup whipped cream
1 T powdered sugar
1/4 c orange juice
1/8 c balsamic vinegar
1/8 c sugar
1/4 t orange liqueur
8 figs (cut in halves)
1/4 c toasted pecans and chopped (optional)
1. Mix the mascarpone cheese, whipped cream and powdered sugar together in a bowl and set aside in the fridge until serving.
2. Mix the OJ, vinegar, sugar and orange liquor into a sauce pan and bring the mixture to a boil. Then, simmer for about 5 minutes.
3. Toss the figs with the mixture and place the figs, cut side up, into the broiler and broil for about 7-8 minutes.
4. Serve with the mascarpone cheese and top with pecans.
