I got a cookie press and kinda have been going nuts about making cookies. Here's a super great recipe that I've been using.
Ingredients
340 g butter
200 g sugar
2 egg yolks
2 T water
470 g AP flour
1 g salt
16 ml vanilla extract
Optional:
Ginger powder
Almond extract
Food coloring
Strawberry extract
Powdered sugar
Milk
To make the cookie dough:
1. Bring the butter to room temperature and combine the sugar and the butter until smooth.
2. Add the egg yolks and stir until smooth.
3. Mix in the water, flour, salt, and vanilla until a soft dough forms.
4. At this time, you may want to divide the dough up and add food coloring or flavorings like ginger powder + nutmeg, strawberry + almond extract.
5. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F.
6. Use the cookie press to press cookies onto a cookie sheet and bake for 9-10 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before decorating.
To make the icing:
1. In a bowl, combine 4 T of milk and 1/2 cup of powdered sugar. Add any flavoring if you want to (vanilla, almond, strawberry).
2. Dip the top of each cooking into the icing, allow excess to drip off and then dip each cookie in some sprinkles.
